Well crap, it seems some Einstein decided it would be a good idea to not make sure the load of pipe on his flatbed was tied down properly. Combine that brilliant decision with the fact that he was traveling Northbound on the tollway at 60+ mph, and you can see the recipe for disaster. Unfortunately for us, Lori was traveling Southbound on the tollway when one of the sections of pipe decided it was a good time to leap off his flatbed, fly across the median, and slam into Lori's car. We are very fortunate that it hit Lori's vehicle perpendicular to her windshield, or we might have been looking at a far more serious problem, and Lori very easily could have been impaled. As it stands, her car was the only thing damaged. Here are pictures detailing the carnage:
Of course the brainiac in the truck never even knew that his pipe was jumping ship, and kept right on going. Lori now has to go to the police department and file a hit and run report.
You know, normally I would be furious about the damage to the vehicle and all of the trouble that goes along with it, but under the circumstances I am just very thankful that Lori was able to walk away unharmed.
