Mother's Day Weekend end was a lot of fun, and we were blessed with absolutely beautiful weather the entire time. Saturday started off with a Tball game at 11:30 in the morning, and we had a lot of fun watching Aidan play ball. Lori was especially happy to be at the game, for she had to miss last weeks game when she was away on business. Aidan played very well, and had lots of fun.
After the game, we went to the house to eat and change clothes, and after about an hour, we left again to travel to Grandma's house for the weekend. We got to Grandma's house about 4:00 in the afternoon, and Uncle Jim (my brother) was already there with Grandma waiting for us. Aidan wasted little time making a bee line for the backyard, and pestering Uncle Jim to play baseball with him. Here is a picture of Aidan hitting a pitch from his Uncle. (Notice that form - hips rotated, weight shifted, hands driving through the strike zone - ball rocketing off the bat)
Here is one of Mystic laying in the yard and watching the riveting action. Isn't she a pretty dog?
After getting good and sweaty for a couple of hours, Jim and I took Grandma's convertible to Clem Mikeska's bbq to pick up some dinner. I made sure I took the scenic tour getting there to assure myself of ample seat time in Grandma's sweet ride. After picking up the bbq, we made our way home, and started the feast.
After dinner, we all sat down and watched Bee Movie. We all had a good laugh, and after it was over, we put Aidan to bed. Shortly after, Grandma went to bed, and Jim and Lori and I watched another movie. It was called Rescue Dawn, and starred Christian Bale and Steve Zaun. It was a really good movie, based on a true story. We all enjoyed it, but afterward Lori and I were beat so we called it a night.
Mother's Day was gorgeous, and we spent almost the entire day in Grandma's backyard playing various games. Around noon, we broke out the chilled Watermelon that Jim had brought over, and sliced it up. Is there anything more refreshing than ice cold ripe water melon when you are hot? mmmmmmm............it was delicious.
We played ball well into the afternoon, and after taking a break to feast on some Fried Chicken, we took a few more pictures before we left. Here are a few from Mother's Day.
Christopher on his "play rug" in Grandma's sun room.
Aidan and his playmate Uncle Jim. (Notice the batting helmet on Aidan's head? Well it's as old as his mother. That was my helmet that I had when I was a 6-7 year old Astro-buddy living in Houston.)
Aidan and Dad.
Grandma, Uncle Jim, Lori, Aidan and Christopher.
I would like to express our thanks to my mom for having us. We had a blast visiting with you and Jim. I would also thank Jim for being such a great brother, and fun Uncle. Aidan really has a lot of fun playing with you. We love you both.
Good times were had by all........see.........I told you I was lucky.
William
