We left on our Journey at 10:00pm Wednesday night. I know, that's late, but it does allow you to miss traffic, and the kids slept the whole way. No stops....WoooHooo! We got to Galveston about 2:30am, and after unpacking, went strait to bed. I was really tired, and it did not take very long to fall asleep.
Thursday was great. Kenny got off work for a 5 day weekend, and with Hailey still being on maternity leave, they headed down Thursday morning. They packed up their vehicles, loaded up Carley, Major, and their new angel Aubrey and got to the beach house around lunch time. That gave us plenty of time to visit, and to hold that beautiful new baby. It also gave us time to set up a special treat for the kiddos. Here is a picture of Aidan and Carley using the engineering skills to put the final touches on their weekend water slide.
The slide was a huge hit, and provided many, many hours of fun for all of us. Yeah, that's right.......even big daddy launched himself down the slide a few dozen times. It was hot, like Africa hot, and the water slide was great relief from scorching sun.
Friday was spent mostly playing around the house, with a couple of trips to the beach mixed in. It was pretty relaxing and the evening was topped off with mouth water steaks and roasted Corn. Mmmmmmmmmm.........
Saturday was tournament time, so we headed to the beach about noon. While I was playing horse shoes, Christopher and Aidan frolicked on the beach. Here is Christopher having a snack in between romps in the ocean.
This is Aidan making some new friends, and building some awesome castles.
We left the beach about 4:30pm, and everybody was pretty tired. While we relaxed, Christopher made use of the sidewalk chalk. Say Cheese....
After resting, we made 5 lbs of shrimp on the grill and feasted like kings. Yummy. After dinner, our friend Kirk came by, and we spent the rest of the evening visiting. Here is Kirk, sitting next to Major on the golf cart.
Sunday was another fun day that included an afternoon crawfish boil at one of their neighbor's house. The day started with Christopher and Carley posing for the camera.
It also gave me an opportunity to take a great picture of Carley and baby Aubrey. What a couple of cuties!
Afternoon finally rolled around, and that meant one thing.......MUD BUG TIME! 140lbs of Crawfish.......MmmmmmMmmmm.

Yes, that's me in the picture grabbing the massive handful.
After stuffing our faces, we went back to the beach house to relax. Evening rolled around, and the sunset was beautiful.
What a great day.
Monday came too quickly, and our journey home was only hours away. We made one more visit to the beach before we left. Here is a picture of Aidan teaching Christopher the fine art of castle building.
Shortly after the completion of CASTLE AIDAN, Christopher showed Aidan the fine art of castle demolition. What Michelangelo is to art, Christopher is to destruction. A true master. After working up a sweat stomping on the helpless castle, Christopher decided to try his hand at boogie boarding. For a 2 1/2 year old, he was pretty graceful.
It was only noon, but to Christopher it had already been a long day.
We got back to the beach house a little after noon, and started loading up our stuff. A couple hours and about a gallon of sweat later, I had the CX-9 packed up and ready to go. We said our sad goodbyes to our wonderful friends, and slowly made our way out of Galveston. Traffic was not too bad once we got through Houston. We finally got home about 8:00pm and I was one tired puppy. We all hit the hay early and dreamed of rolling waves and salty air.
William
P.S. Thank you so much for everything Kenny and Hailey. You always make us feel so welcome, and you truly are great friends.
